Shadow Camp is all about shadow theater, a dynamic and ancient performance medium that originated in Asia, which now enjoys increasing popularity worldwide. Shadow Camp will introduce festival audiences to various traditional forms of shadow theater, as well as the work of contemporary artists working in the medium (and with such related media as cut paper, stencils, and stop-motion silhouette animation), but will have at its core workshops designed to introduce broad audiences to these same media, allowing Shadow Campers of all ages to create and perform original work on the spot. Shadow Camp will take place at Firefly in Vermont, July 3-7, 2013, supported by a Creativity Grant from the Firefly Arts Collective, and at Artscape in Baltimore, July 19-21, 2013, as part of "No Passport Required," and supported by a grant from the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts and by you! We can't wait to see you at Shadow Camp.
